From the perspective of conserving the natural environment, entry into the mountains for the purpose of bamboo shoot and wild vegetable foraging will be prohibited in 2026 for the general public, including guests staying at accommodation facilities.
Shiga Kogen is located within a national park and is an area where valuable natural environments and ecosystems are protected under the management of local authorities. We kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation.
At accommodation facilities, restaurants, and other venues throughout Shiga Kogen, dishes using seasonal bamboo shoots and wild vegetables are served in June, when they are at their best. One of the pleasures of the season is comparing the different flavors, seasonings, and ingredients offered by each establishment. We invite you to enjoy tasting them at various locations.
