News from Okushiga, further into the interior beyond the Ichinose area. The Okushiga Kogen Hotel, at 1,500 meters above sea level, will begin its green-season operation with stays from Saturday, July 11, 2026. The period runs through stays on October 30. Due to a problem with the reservation system, reservations are currently being accepted by phone only.
At the deepest reach of Shiga Kogen, a drive further on from Ichinose, lies Okushiga Kogen. Its symbol, the Okushiga Kogen Hotel, will begin its green-season operation with stays from Saturday, July 11, 2026. Operation continues through stays on October 30. Note, however, that in September and October it accepts stays on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays only, apart from public holidays.
Inside, there are three restaurants: the French restaurant “Gendai,” the Japanese restaurant “Kunenbo,” and the teppanyaki restaurant “TEPPAN Shirakaba,” and the baths use 100% mountain water from Okushiga Kogen. It’s high-quality water drawn and filtered from the Osawa stream flowing down from Yakebitaiyama, with no homes upstream. Pet-friendly rooms where you can stay with your dog are available, too.
Due to a problem with the reservation system, online reservations are currently unavailable. Until it’s restored, reservations are being accepted by phone (0269-34-2034) only. Please check the latest status before you head out.
